Description: 

 In 2019 I had an opportunity to work with creative director Hazel Baird and the Elastic team to design a television promo for HBO's documentary series ''The Vow''. The documentary follows members who joined the self-improvement group NXIVM. It takes a deep, nuanced look at the organization, which faces with various charges including sex-trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.

For the first approach, we explored the idea of the victims being trapped on a surface and trying to escape. It starts with a white and the hand stretches out the surface. In the beginning, it wasn't clear that the surface was a trap. As the promo progresses we see that this hand belongs to victims and we see the rest of their body parts which stretch out of the surface and try to escape.

The idea for the second approach was to use the Tremor logo as a led light source. Inspiring by VHS tapes used as evidence, we tried to make a 3d look for each led dot. The sequence starts with a couple of macro shots and we hear the victim's voices. Then as the sequence progresses the logo reveals slowly.
