MIB International

__2019

I had an opportunity to work with directors Jeff Han and Nadia Tzuo together with the talented Elastic team to pitching for the new Men in Black movie. The main title's concept starts on black with a bead of light that is tracing across the screen. Along the way, the geography shows up slowly and fills in greater details as the title progresses. This light trace represents the iconic Jaguar car and it travels at the speed of light in Paris city. Because the MIB has components as being a spy movie, we tried to involve mystery as structures are revealed over the course of the title sequence.

Besides the main titles, I had worked on the main on end titles for the movie. The concept was similar to the main titles but this time the Jaguar car was traveling from Paris to different cities such as New York, London, Shangai, etc. We designed a couple of frames for traveling at the speed of light and seeing stars, planets' light streaks in a very abstract and minimal style. Then we added some hints from the selected cities such as landmarks like London Bridge or The Statue of Liberty etc. For the main on end titles, we used the iconic font of previous MIB movies which has designed by legendary Pablo Ferro.
