We were invited by Creative Director Hazel Baird and the team at Elastic to create design frames for Apple TV’s new sci-fi series Murderbot Diaries. Our initial concept centered around the idea of murderbots being assembled on a high-tech production line—starting from skeletal structures, then layering muscles, veins, and organic-tech components, culminating in the final armored exosuit. The sequence evolved into a more introspective journey, as one bot begins to break from the norm. The camera pushes in, revealing his inner world: drifting through planets, diving into nebulas, and eventually landing on an unfamiliar world—only to discover he’s surrounded by space hippies. While the direction shifted during production, the final version developed by Elastic and Roughcollie.tv embraced a playful, toy-like visual style—bringing a fresh and imaginative twist to the concept
